I love what you guys are doing but don’t have a garden! How can I support Climate Farming?
Each ClimateGard purchase directly funds our Climate Farming operation in southern Georgia, helping to sequester greenhouse gases, feed needy families in the southeastern United States and provide meaningful employment for residents of Folkston, GA.
Can I use this fertilizer on houseplants and flowers or just vegetables?
ClimateGard is safe and effective for use in any context, including with houseplants, trees and outdoor flower beds.
What are the NPK values? I want to compare ClimateGard to what I currently use.
ClimateGard is an all-purpose, 4-4-4 blend — but it also contains much more than NPK! Each pellet includes a synergistic composite of humic acid, silica, beneficial bacteria and fungi carefully selected to maximize and improve soil quality over time.
Is this safe for pets? My dogs have eaten fertilizer before and I don’t want them harmed!
Yes! Animal welfare is a cause that’s near and dear to our hearts, so we have gone out of our way to create a blend that’s as pet-friendly as possible.
Why are animal parts bad in a fertilizer?
Bone meal, blood meal, feather meal and fish emulsion are abundant sources of NPK, but lack many of the essential secondary nutrients plants need to thrive, including calcium, magnesium and iron. Furthermore, many gardeners have philosophical objections to the manner in which the conventional livestock industry raises and harvests the animals which wind up in these organic fertilizers.
What is Climate Farming and what does it have to do with ClimateGard?
Climate Farming is a blend of regenerative, permaculture and syntropic agroforestry practices designed to supercharge topsoil quality, mitigate the harmful environmental effects of other forms of agriculture and sequester greenhouse gases in soil. Central to its methodology is the notion that farmers and gardeners can create all the nutrients their plants require on-site, using the same land that produces their crops. However, setting up a system capable of doing so takes time, and some soils are so depleted that amending them is a necessary first step toward a more sustainable system. We created ClimateGard to jumpstart the process of building a vibrant, biodiverse farm or garden.
Can I put this fertilizer on my lawn and trees?
Yes! ClimateGard is safe and effective for use in any context, including with lawns, trees and outdoor flower beds. In fact, we are already in the process of developing future products tailor-made for these applications!
When do your fertilizers expire?
The expiration date for each bag will be listed on its packaging.

Johnny Appleseed Orchards, LLC, owns the genetics to the last known surviving tree planted by John Chapman. The legacy tree came to our attention in 1995, after decades of stewardship on the Harvey-Algeo centennial farm in Ashland County, Ohio. Family legend holds that Chapman visited their early American ancestors on a number of occasions, breaking bread with Dick Algeo's grandparents before retiring to sleep in a barn that still stands on the property today.
