Johnny Appleseed – Honoring the Legend

Jeff Meyer, founder of Johnny Appleseed Orchards LLC, could be called a modern-day Johnny Appleseed. In 1995, he discovered, authenticated and acquired exclusive genetic rights to the “Algeo tree,” the last surviving tree planted by Johnny Appleseed. What started as a prosperous business entity has turned into a passionate plea to restore the health and well-being of our youngest citizens. Meyer, and his partners founded The Farm at Okefenokee, a revolutionary rural agriculture community near Folkston, Georgia, that offers a farm-focused lifestyle. This living, breathing community gracefully intertwines privately owned and sustainably built residential cabins and community spaces with organic row crops, native orchards, permaculture gardens, happily grazing livestock, and rolling pasture – all of which community members can freely access. The Farm operates with a paramount focus on sustainability and conservation and employs regenerative farming practices.
